Behind every bag of freeze-dried candy from Bright Spectrum Candy Co. is a family, a story, and a whole lot of love.

I’m a mom, an advocate, and the founder of Bright Spectrum Candy Co. I started this business because our family’s life doesn’t always fit neatly into a traditional schedule, and I needed to create a life that allowed me to be where I’m needed most: at home with my child.

For much of my child’s life, we have navigated the complicated and often overwhelming world of complex health and developmental needs. There have been countless appointments, specialists, therapies, hospital stays, school challenges, unexpected diagnoses, and moments when simply getting through the day felt like an accomplishment.

Parenting a child with disabilities has taught me that life can change in an instant. It has also taught me something even more important: the hard moments are not the whole story.

There is still laughter. There is still adventure. There is still excitement, connection, and so much joy to be found.

Turning Challenges Into Something Sweet

Our family has experienced seasons of uncertainty and heartbreak, but we have also learned how to celebrate the little things and, sometimes, the very big things.

I lost my mom, who played an incredibly important role in helping me raise my child, and that loss changed our family forever. Through all of life’s challenges, my husband has also become an important part of our story. He stepped into our lives with love and commitment and became the dad my child loves and has needed to this day.

Together, we have built a family rooted in love, resilience, and the belief that our circumstances don’t get to decide what our future looks like.

That belief is part of what inspired Bright Spectrum Candy Co.

I wanted a business that could grow alongside our family while giving me the flexibility to remain my child’s advocate. Instead of choosing between being present for my family and pursuing something of my own, I decided to build something that could do both.

And so, Bright Spectrum Candy Co. was born.

Our freeze-dried candy is one small expression of the joy we work so hard to protect in our everyday lives.

When we aren’t navigating appointments, school, or the unexpected challenges that come with our journey, we love being together. We are travelers, thrill-seekers, movie lovers, and memory-makers. We love exploring new places, visiting theme parks, zip-lining, parasailing, seeing movies, and finding new adventures wherever life takes us.

Because we’ve learned something along the way:

Life isn’t meant to be spent waiting for everything to become perfect before you start enjoying it.

Sometimes joy looks like an unforgettable family vacation. Sometimes it looks like laughing together over a movie. Sometimes it looks like trying something completely terrifying and exciting for the first time.

And sometimes, it looks like opening a bag of candy and discovering that something familiar has been transformed into something completely unexpected.

Bright Spectrum Candy Co. is our way of creating something positive from a life that has often been anything but predictable.

Our name represents what we believe: that every person has their own unique spectrum of experiences, strengths, challenges, colors, and possibilities. We don’t believe our challenges define us. They are simply part of the story.

The story is still being written.
